   Home      About us

The Lost Pines church of Christ in Bastrop, Texas cordially invites you to come and join us for any and all of our worship services.

LOCATION UPDATE: We will meet at the Best Western at 107 Hunters Crossing Blvd on Sundays.  Please call or text Steven at 512-704-4438 for location of our Wednesday service.

Whether you are new to Bastrop or a current resident of Bastrop and it's nearby towns, we would invite you to stop by and visit with us. The question of which church to choose is always one that presents itself to new residents. So, if you visit the Lost Pines church of Christ, this is what you can expect:

1) A group of Christians who are dedicated to serving their Lord Jesus Christ.

2) A simple service that includes, congregational singing, partaking of the Lord's Supper, prayer, and Bible study based upon God's word.

3) Although we do take up a collection each first day of the week, we view it first as privilege and second, as an obligation for the membersof our congregation. We never expect or ask our visitors to particpate in the collection.

What type of congregation are you looking for?

How do you choose a church? If the first answer you give is anything along the lines of "Something that makes me happy" or "It has to make me feel me good" then you will not be alone. Maybe people think first about their own needs and wants. While we agree that it church services are not supposed to be boring and proper worship of God should also edify those who participate, we would like to suggest that in answering the question of which church to attend, you first ask the question "What type of congregation does God want me to attend?"

We believe that there is both a right and a wrong way to worship God. We also believe that there is a right and wrong way to teach the word of God. Without a standard to go by, following Christ can become a matter of each one doing what is right in their own sight. Moses was told follow the pattern God gave him (Hebrews 8:5) and even Jesus said that He was here to do the will of His Father (John 6:38) so we also are careful that whatever we do in word and deed that we do all in the name of the Lord and by His authority. (Colossians 3:17) If you wish to worship God, does it make sense to do what make you feel good, or what God is pleased with? We do not claim to be the "only" group of people going to Heaven but we definitely try to serve God according to His desires and not ours.

We invite you to worship with us and study the Scriptures so that together we might find out what God's will is for each of us.

The Lost Pines church of Christ is a group of Christians from the Bastrop area who meet with the purpose of worshiping God as He has asked us too. We attempt to let the Scriptures lead us as we direct both our worship and our lifes towards our Creator.

While there are many passages that could be used as a theme for our beliefs, we think that Acts 17:11 says a lot about what we think it important. The verse says "now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they recieved the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so."

In this simple verse, you will find the foundation for many things which we hold to be true. For example, these people in verse 11 (the Bereans, see v10) were willing to listen to what Paul said, but they also searched the scriptures and verified the truth of the matter.

We believe that the Scriptures can be understood by anyone who is willing to listen, look, and study.

We also believe that this group of Christians in Berea had access to the same scriptures that the Christians in Bastrop, Tx have.

We believe that is important that we listen first to God so that we will know His will and strive to do all in the name of the Lord Jesus and by His authority.
